What to do is your Canada Study Permit Application is rejected?
Applying for a study permit to Canada is a duanting process and usually spans over a couple of months. However, it becomes equally saddening when an international student’s visa application is rejected !
As per the Immigration, Refugees and Citizienship Canada (IRCC), there is no formal appeal process avaialble to international students who are rejected for a Canadian study permit.
However, international students can, indeed, apply for a reconsideration of their study permit decision if they can present new and supportive evidence that argues against the rejected decision of their inital application. This again can become a time taking and a challenging task and we adivce students to get professional help from overseas study consultants.
Things you should know about reapplying for a Canadian Study Permit
There are few points that the team at ZED Global Consultants have outlined below that are key elements to rememebr before submitting a second study permit application to IRCC:
1. How long do I have to reapply?
According to IRCC, international students can reapply for a study permit at any time, as long as their PAL (Provincial Attestation Letter) remains valid. In other words, your study permit application must be submitted before the expiry of the PAL.
Please note that if there is no date stated on the PAL letter, then usually the considered date shall be Jan 21, 2025.
2. What do I need to reapply?
There are several things an international student will need to reapply for a Canadaian study permit.
- a valid PAL Letter;
- IRCC will reconsider an application that presents new information (including new evidentiary documents) that resolves the concerns/issues that were stated in the refusal letter.
